Yoga is an uplifting and inspiring system of physical exercise, mental focus and spiritual connection. Regardless of your age or physical abilities yoga can be tailored to fit your needs. It is low impact and can even be done in a chair at your home or office.
As you practice the asanas (physical exercise) your body and mind are internally focused on the breath. This intense concentration becomes a form of meditation, which will help lower blood pressure and reduce stress.
As your focus begins to become concentrated and intense the breath is strengthened and expanded, which can aid in relieving asthma and other respiratory distresses. Each class will incorporate pranayama (breathing exercises) to help with the focus and concentration.
Yoga literally (or as literally as anceint text in a dead language will allow) means "union". The mind, body and spirit (breath) freely flowing and going through life in perfect union.
